@Curt D'Onofrio- Yesss....that's what she said when she saw I had sanded them, along with "They're just going into an old hunting cabin".

A hunting cabin it may be, but where these cabinets are going is a new off-the-grid cabin. The doors were out of square and the joints were loose, so I squared them up and drilled out the old pegs and re-pegged the joints. Then I didn't have enough long pieces for front frames, so I had to dowel some pieces end to end. Anyway, she's getting some fabulous old walnut even though IMO the sanding was unavoidable.

Those were/are beautiful. As a woodworker, I'm sure you have seen some gorgeous pieces in your time. Nothing like old school craftsmanship! :0)

Not only are they beautiful, but that was a great idea.

We're stuck with two knotty pine doors that are too big for our bathrooms, and I suspect we're going to be stuck with them as we didn't get them returned to the door store when we found out as my husband was injuried on the job. This inspires me to save them for future reference instead of scrap them as my husband is also very into woodworking....
