Yes to getting rid of the walllpaper for sure. You could replace just the doors of the cabinets if the body of the cabinets is in good shape. Those arched panels very much date the kitchen. If you can replace the tile flooring with wood that would go a long way towards updating the kitchen too.

Start with decluttering, lose a ton of the things on the counters and spread all over. Paint the walls after removing the wall paper and then reevaluate.

Do you think that you will use that fireplace. If not - consider taking it out to gain more space.

Does this furniture belong to the seller or is this your furniture. The scale of the items seem too heavy for the room in general.

If you look a the downlights it looks like your bulbs might be closer to 6000 instead of the 3000 color that would look better.

A black table and chairs might look better in the space.

I am seeing more maximalism with ”stuff” than customization worth keeping in the seller’s photos.

Agree with the comments to remove the black pattered wall paper and all decor on the hutch/table/counters. Then re-assess to come up with a plan.

Is there a fan over the stove as part of the microwave? I don't see how it vents .

The AI photo showed continuous countertop eliminating the desk area which is good. Perhaps with building that our with drawers or cabinets below will help with getting things off the counters. Update your progress in the comments section of this space.

I will be the outlier here, but I too like much of what I see in this space--especially the art on/over the mantel. (Love the classic subjects and framing and the way they've hung some and leaned some. Very English, it feels to me.) But if you want an updated classic look, that's possible too (even with the wallpaper).

I darkened the desk and the cabinet over it, so they recede into the wallpaper, letting the art star. (I would darken the cabinet door that faces into the dining area as well.) And I substituted a very simple light fixture for the strip globe, although, given more time, I would probably look for something with more character. (I would also get another chair for the desk and return the fourth dining chair to the table. Moot point, though, if this is not your furniture.)

I think the space is very unique and has a lot of style. But it is someone else’s style. Wallpaper is very taste specific.

What part did you find unique? The two tone? It's the latest kitchen fad that is fading into the ether. Thank you for posting pictures. This look worked best in large designer grade kitchens, not so much in the average suburban home. I agree the wall paper is too too much. After that I would say paint out the white/black you don't care for. Given you are keeping the granite I would lean into a fresher rendition of the classic black and white combo. White seems the most logical to embrace, unless you like the cave feel but you have that now with the wall paper. With your white tile floor it might work to go black cabinetry and white walls.

If the white floor remains, painting the cabinets white may not be the best choice. Often, either the floor or the cabinets will look dingy.

I like a lot of the art that is on the mantel...just too much of it doesn't allow each to get the attention it deserves.

Wallpaper. I like wallpaper, for the most part, and I could see your keeping it and changing the cabinet/island/trim color to green and furniture to a natural wood tone.

The under cabinet lighting that I attempted to insert into this visual is too bright and harsh plus it is sort of distorting the area. But I basically wanted to show the idea of putting some glass panels in a few of the uppers. You can possibly look into that.
