What size is your room and are you able to post a few photos?

here ate a few photos. I am redesigning to French country, which I believe goes best with the home's original architecture. these photos were taken early evening with all of the lamps turned on. still dark! the last photo is of the dining area (open floor plan for LR, DR and foyer.

Ah i do see the dilemma and I agree that track lighting, especially with your gorgeous ceiling, might not be the best option. First off, the dining room chandelier needs to be lowered. Generally speaking it should be approx 30" above the table surface.

Just so I understand, with regards to what you were told about the ceiling, are you saying they can not run electrical at all? Even using shallow junction boxes?

I think having dual matching chandeliers would work with the space OR get a complimentary statement chandelier for the living area?
