Making an oak wet bar white and adding chalkboard backsplash

We had an oak wet bar with laminate counters. We decided to paint the cabinets white and add white fantasy granite counters (same as our kitchen). We added a wine fridge, hammered copper/nickel sink, faucet and crystal knobs. We decided to do something a little different and paint the backsplash with chalkboard paint. We thought this could be a fun addition, especially when we host parties :)

Love this! What product did you use to redo the cabinets?

How fun! I love this. Also love that you added a wine frig. Now I've got to figure out where I could put something like this in my house!

Lisa JMW we did everything ourselves except for the counters. I have another project on houzz showing our kitchen as well.

Kathy we stripped the cabinets and used Benjamin Moore primer and paint. For more details you can go to our blog where we track our progress www.fufarmhouse.WordPress.com
    Thanks!

It is lovely, would you mind sharing information about the countertop. Is that granite? What is the name? Thanks

What a nice change. It must've have been 'fun' painting the wine rack.

Joan Figueroa, the counters are a "quartzite" like granite. It's called White Fantasy granite, but is called different things depending on what granite store you go to. It needs to be sealed like marble, but we were told it's more durable than granite. Definitely invest in a high quality sealer, it is totally worth it. We actually found people talking about this counter on houzz.com and decided to go with it. Our kitchen has this counter top as well (you can see my kitchen in my other projects on houzz) So far we love it!

hatetoshop, Yes it was definitely "fun" painting the wine rack (said no one ever) ha ha. The worst part was I had to prime it and then paint it....that was my job instead of my husbands since I have smaller hands to get into the crevices. Lucky me :)
