We have an unreturnable Xenon vanity light (Triarch International Cosmo 2-Light, a company that went out of business while we were waiting months to install it). Chosen to go over a very tall mirror in our powder room. It has 2 - 40 watt bulbs in translucent small globes. The problem is that it is absolutely blinding light. Standing under it you cannot avoid seeing the bulbs and then you have spots in front of your eyes. It could be placed as an uplight but then we would have a very bright ceiling - not quite what I had in mind. The mirror is 5 inches from the corner wall on one side so pendants would have to be around 3 1/2 inches. We cannot bring it lower because we now have a mirrored medicine cabinet with a tiled-in border and anything set lower would hit the door. I have looked at swing arm lighting, though I don't really like it, and also mini-pendants. Not sure what the best plan would be for us to have soft light in this powder room that also fits in this awkward space. I find these new light bulbs confusing and maybe this can be dimmed - still not sure as it does not say in the instructions - but it is also the high placement that is a dilemma.
