No, no, no, no!! Greentech is the "author" of a project planned for North Chattanooga that is the beginning of the destruction of this quaint, old neighborhood's very successful revival. The building plans to clear cut 10 acres of wood and build 47!!!! yes 47 houses, all on tiny lots so they will have to go straight up for space. They are cookie cutter models, I've seen the plans. The traffic will be horrendous, the runoff will disastrous, the loss of trees horrific and it will encourage other builders to raise spec homes and get the heck out with their money, not caring about the neighborhood. The neighbors asked him reduce the number of homes, he said he needed to numbers to make it worth what he paid and what it will cost to build the houses. Does that sound "green?" it does just not the kind of green we neighbors hoped for, it's the kind of green Greentech is building for. In the long run the project will be the beginning of the ruination of this place I've called home for 30 years. It will look like Ooltewah or East Brainerd subdivisions, not the wonderful old North Chattanooga hood.
We need to stop other projects like this from happening in this area or we will lose our community. Call your city councilperson and make your concerns known!! Jerry Mitchell for North Chattanooga. Call him, write him, email him. Don't let another bad project happen!!!
