It sounds like your tree has had an attack of cherry slug. They will have left the tree by now, but next season (before Christmas) keep a look out for the little blighters. There are sprays that will do the job. They look like small black slugs.

My weeping cherry trees seem to curl up the leaves where I live due to the heat but I can't really say whether heat is your problem or not.No experience with "cherry slug" but "deejaus" response may also be a cause of leaf curl.As to the two stems growing straight up, cut them off.Grafts sometimes send out shoots that revert to the type of growth of the original tree and if not cut off can overtake the growth of the graft.The "baby plants" appear to be sucker growth from roots growing near the surface.They will most likely have the same type of growth of the understock.If these are grown they will need to be grafted with weeping cherry grafts otherwise they will grow the same as whatever understock was used for the original graft.Hope this info helps, C.N.

need help please just moved in this house and in the front
lawn we found a cherry tree i dont know anything about it
but to me looks like is dead it has a few branches no leaf and im wondering is it dead? can someone please tell me if can be saved thanks regards josie
