is that cute? anyway, seems like phalaenopsis orchids are not real popular due to the death rate and ignorance. How is it that I just got one from the store, with dirt in it? lol. actual dirt and bark. ridiculous. Looks like I have rescued another. What is up with people using urea based fertilizers on them? They are rare plants, cannot even be found in nusery's very often, if at all. Cracks me up. How hard is it to just put lights on the roots and accept that they feed themselves and quit cutting on them, quit shoving them in pots? oh that is right, buncha misinformation online. lol. excuse the gripe. mine might die, however the art won't.

@mothorchid If phalaenopsis orchids are so rare and not real popular, why are they sold in almost every grocery and home improvement store as well as IKEA? Also there are nurseries that specialize only in phals.
Plants in pots are much easier to display and transport. I use them as decorations in my store. They also require less watering than mounted orchids.

Louise, are you questioning his knowledge? He just bought his first orchid three days ago, and he is an expert now. :-D

He has some unique theories, such as "flatulating" on an orchid is better than fertilizer. Just wondering how and where one acquires such diverse knowledge in such a short time. He has posted extensively on several threads.

Where does he get it from? An active imagination! lol

I would like to know how farting on an orchid helps it grow. We will give this one a little bit of time to work haha. Maybe he will report back.

Honestly this was a very sentimental and special thread and nd it's now turned into something totally different. While I will agree that Mothorchid does need to do better research before making a statement, we all need to remember we were all newbies.And even though most of us were shy about asking questions Mothorchid is obviously the chatty type. Now we have been growing for years him a few days or weeks 0 we all know that some things are only learnt through experience so let's all be kind enough to let him learnðÂÂÂ. My point is even though we know his statements are not facts we really do appreciate him trying to fit in.and we hope one day he will be a real good orchid grower as many of us are still learning,myself included.lets exercise as much patients and encouragement to everyone as we canðÂÂÂ.Velleta
