Did you ck the rod to crank for play while in there?

I retired my small 80s Poulan S25 (for parts) after finding too much play at the rod bearing during a PM. I was actually looking for an oil leak in the split oil tank. Torquing the tankâÂÂs bolts and a little silicone solved the leak. Plus, I spotting the tankâÂÂs air intake that answered a question of not slowing the left over oil be sealing the cap (attached marked X black ck). Draining w/h been my solution if needed but I had approx 20 yrs on the saw and good hrs. I retired it for good parts to fit my other two S25s.

That was the 2nd piston and ring set (@ 50.00) after 10 yrs and seizing due to a lack proper oil/mix or running too long in 100 degree weather (approx 6-8 hrs not paying attention to the temp of the saw). Since, I have learned too respect gas and electric tool by monitoring the temps (to touch), work shorter hrs in lower temps (under 70 deg if possible or 1-2 hr of use).

no play in th crankshaft and no sign of wear from play.
