Hi Bunny Ears, the reason your bunny ear cactus is growing long and gangly like that is because it needs FULL SUN LIGHT. As do most cacti. just cut back the leggy growth put it outside in the full sun and see the difference. :)

Yeah I'd like to put it outdoors if I could find a good spot. Lot's of wind and squirrels that would just knock it over if I didn't have a cage or something over it. Still it would grow much better outdoors.

what type of container are you using for the pot? as if wind is a problem and you have an area ( ie ) meaning you don't live in an apt complex, you can always just sink the pot into the ground some and or add large rocks to the bottom of the pot to help stabilize it.. or even use a tomato cage if nothing else

Well actually I do have one big pot that wouldn't get blown over. I'll try something . That pot in the ground idea might work too.Right now I'm using mostly small pots. They don't really need big pots but outdoors in a big pot they might like that.

well you can always make cacti succulent gardens in bigger pots. just remember cacti don't have large root systems. well accept maybe the dessert ones.. mix it with some other cacti and make an eye catching garden ;)
