Amaryllis/Hippeastrum

eggshells?

Happy New Year, All!
My friend's mom has an Amaryllis that seems to bloom every year. She says she uses crushed eggshell to fertilize. So I tried it and my Jewel I got last year has sprouted a scape. Coincidence? Did she stumble onto some magic? Anyone use eggshells too?
Looking forward to 2015 blooming season!

I put egg shells in my compost. How did you apply yours?

Hi Kristi, I crush and sprinkle on top. Some are in compost.
