I have not grown it but it certainly is on my wish list!

Hi Terrance, I ordered one and it just arrived from last week Corn Hill Nursery and although I can't say much yet on it's growth habits, I'll be happy to add an update later on in the year after it settles in:

It's now settled in. From left to right, Champlain, the Hunter, Hansaland. No signs of blackspot or powdery mildew on Hansaland, even with the Hunter close beside it (with a few blackspots), and Champlain on the furthest left (with some powdery mildew). Whether this is because of it's resistance or because the Hunter and Champlain were purchased as leafed-out potted plants, I do not know:

Leaves of Hansaland. Subtle shine, smooth foliage:

Older blooms are cerise and appear to 'glow' as the center of the petals fade and edges stay dark:

Newer blooms are bright solid red:

Blooms are long-lasting. No scent. Is continuing to push out buds as the previous flowers have been deadheaded. Stems are strong, no flopping so far.

I like it overall.

Oh, thank you prairie_northrose for remembering to post the photos of 'Hansaland', indeed it does look very appealing and remains on my wish list! Again, please keep us updated as to how it comes through our following winter.

I used to have 'The Hunter', the blooms are quite remarkable, though sure does have very very nasty thorns!

Tworsz, did you get rid of 'The Hunter' because of blackspot? That is how I feel today.

Over the last few weeks it has become one of the worst of my bunch, 20-30% of leaves now have spots. I like the fragrant blooms though. I'll give it another year and see if it's the same. Last year Emily Carr had blackspot, but it's been good this year.

'The Hunter' has some of the worst flesh ripping thorns of any rose and such was probably the reason that I had not again sought it out. It's been a long time, so I don't recall whether it had been plagued with black spot or not.

'Emily Carr' has always been healthy for me, even sitting among other black spot and bacterial spot infested roses.

I agree, i noticed the has very sharp hooked thorns! Its interesting, the thorns on all the new stwms of my roses seem to get worse as they adapt to the climate.

Thanks ostrich! Out of my five red reds, (Emily Carr, Champlain, Hunter, Hansaland and Quadra), I am liking Hansaland the most so far. It's in year two and I like the neat bush shape, foliage, bright bloom colour and tidy bloom form.

Thanks for posting the beautiful photos of 'Hansaland' ... indeed, the foliage and flower combination is lovely! Now, I only wish I could come across this rose :)
