Zonal geraniums grow rather easily from seed if you have a light set up. a heat mat wouldn't hurt either. The seed is a bit pricy though especially the ivy(hanging) geraniums. That's why Bring in some plants in the fall and grow them on my window sill all winter. Because I have a lot of pots I take cuttings and grow a few zonal geranium seeds to have different colors and renew my plants

Because the Ivy geraniums seed is so expensive I never start them from seed and may buy a few.

It does take a while to get a blooming plant from seed. I start mine in mid Feb. for planting out in May.
