I would use the first countertop. It's gorgeous and you're lucky to find it. That stone has beautiful sparkle, while the sparkle in the Cambria is artificial. But I'd get rid of the busy backsplash. It will be an overpowering element here with it marching around two sides of the small vanity. The stone is special, the tile is not.

Totally agree with may_flowers. The first one (marble or quartzite?) is gorgeous and the other is not. I would look for a different backsplash material, or consider using the first counter material as backsplash.

Is there a specific backsplash you guys recommend?

How high do you want to go with the backsplash? The standard 4 inches or further up the wall? What are the rest of your file finishes, e.g., floor, shower?

I'm actually thinking about 10" since I'm not putting a back edge of the vanity there for the new one (like what's shown in the current one against the walls.) instead where that base is against the walls will be tile. The shower is an off white and usually isn't visible in the bathroom due to a shower curtain that's closed all the time there. All the appliances are brushed nickel.

I plan for the finished project to look something like this photo.

I really like the first combo you posted. the second one starts looking a bit busy imho.

I love your first countertop choice and I think the tile looks great with it. I am thinking about redoing my guest bathroom and would like that look in mine. Please share the details/names for the tile and stone. Thanks

JMHO but the marble sample you have looks like what was used for my shower curb and it is extremely soft. It already has chips in the edges of it. I would definitely go with marble but look for some that doesn't look so "crumbly" for lack of a better word.

Luvscritters, the first one is also a quartzite piece, not a marble. From what I have heard its much more durable than marble, and doesn't etch. I steered away from true Carrara due to the fragility of it.

Oh ok singers. It sure looks like what I have that is supposed to be Cararra marble.

I love the first option, and I like the tile too. In fact, I picked something similar for my bathroom, but mine is more of a spa green. I almost went for the speckled quartz too but after much thought I went with the less busy one. Go with what you love. If you end up going with a different more subtle backsplash then you could easily pull off the second choice that's the busier speckled one...

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I ended up choosing #1. Here is some pictures of it installed. I will upload photos of the fully finished product once the tile work surrounding the vanity is complete.

I feel that the backplash you first posted is more contemporary (glass mosaic) and goes less well with the more classy vanity. I would pick a larger tile format than the small mosaic.

Nosoccermom, I plan to surround the glass tiles with a Carrara Marble framing. I'm hoping this will complete the look and make the tile and vanity come together. If there is another type of tile you recommend feel free to post a photo or link.

Mosaics don't get much love on this forum(or the kitchen forum). I think the glass mosaic you showed in a previous picture looks great. It plays very nicely with your other elements. IMO your faucet, mirror and cabinet hardware are contemporary looking. Contemporary is not the opposite of "classy". Your bathroom can be classy and contemporary at the same time.

Badgergal, and that is the look I am basically trying to get "contemporary and classy". I want to have some unique look to it other then what you usually see in your traditional marble bathrooms. Thanks for your input! :)

You are absolutely right: Things can be contemporary and classic/classy. I think that I somehow associate SMALLER mosaics with either Byzantine or Art Nouveau styles. Also, I feel that the narrow streep glass mosaics are very trendy right now, i.e. perhaps less classic. IMO, it's more the size/shape than the material per se.
