It's surgery day!

After being in Boston since Monday evening, it's finally the official day for DH to have his knee replacement. I'm optimistic that all will go well. He is rather nervous and decided to send a 'not so subtle' message to his surgical team.

Heeheehee, that's funny! Good luck to both of you. It can be tough to be a caregiver.

Ha! That's greatâ¦and timely! Good to see he's donning the correct sports team now! I hope the surgery goes smoothly and that they replace the correct body part!

    And he's in good company:

sending good thoughts your way and wishing Bob a speedy recovery!

Well, Bob has had a lot of free time to think about it these past few days. Good to see he's facing it with good humor! All the best for a smooth surgery and recovery.

Best of luck. And keep an eye out for slipper spots. It's snowing again, at least just north of 128.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. So lucky to have wonderful hospitals in Boston.

I hope he also took a sharpie and made a bullseye on the correct knee! Best of luck that all goes well.

I hope his recovery is quick and smooth. Good Luck

Wishing you and Bob both good luck. And yes, watch the ice esp. tonight. It's a balmy 34 now but tonight it's supposed to be only 10 degrees.

If you need anything, feel free to contact me. I live close by!

Surgery went wicked awesome! The surgeon called me from the OR and actually gave the phone to Bob. He was very lucid and in great spirits. Amazingly, he even remembers our conversation!

We are still in recovery waiting for him to be able to moved everything on the other leg. I found it interesting that they don't administer any drugs until the surgeon is in the room and the patient acknowledges which knee they are doing. I'm sure their attorneys appreciate that!

I took this in recovery when I first arrived. A bit wild -eyed and grasping tightly to that important Morpheine button!

Congrats! Glad it went well and that it's over and he's on his way to recovery.

Now, if we can get your boss in there for a personality transplant...

    Excellent!

I was thinking about you both all week! Glad it went well and that the doctors heeded the tee shirt admonition! Now, be careful getting home! When will they release him?

He looks great! So glad to hear it's all looking good.

Thank you all for the well wishes. They just moved him to his room and he's looking forward to a good nights sleep. Our hope is he will get discharged on Monday morning. Of course they are predicting more snow. I'm heading home tomorrow and will come back on Monday with my brother. Then the real fun begins !

Wonderful news, he looks great, seems like a person with the right attitude.

Wow - he looks great. Glad it all went well - now the hard work begins.

Great news! I'm sure your pup will be very happy to have you home for a couple days.

    YAY Bob!

He looks great! Glad it is over. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Is someone else staying with him today and tomorrow?

Checked out of the hotel after 5 nights and now at MGH with Bob. PT was just here and had him walking with a walker. Did great! Using ice machine sitting in chair now and then will switch to constant passive motion (CPM) machine. PT again later today.

Hoping that he's well enough to go home tomorrow in time to watch the game. Playing it by ear at this point. I plan to head home later today.

Bob looks great! So glad everything is going well. Enjoy the game!

    Way to go guys!!!!

Best o' Luck to Bob, from a fellow "new-knee-guy" in Fargo!

Fill us in on his PT-Regimen too.

Can't say much for that t-shirt of his tho'....;-)
    I hope the Seahawks win.

Aw, Faron. How you doin'? Glad that is over and all went well. PT can be a pain, but do make him persevere. That CPM is a great gizmo. DH even slept with it on.

    "We can rebuild him."

    Go Pats!

So glad it's going so well!

"I found it interesting that they don't administer any drugs until the surgeon is in the room and the patient acknowledges which knee they are doing."

Standard procedure everywhere, surgeon marks patients before anesthesia.

Knee replacements are a commonly performed procedure and the vast majority are wonderful successes. To the degree that recovery depends on patient motivation, your DH should do very well!

    Nhb-
When do we get some "Homecoming" shots??!?! :-)
How 'bout a pic of that knee?
    I'm assuming staples too...like I had?

    KitchenD-
Doin' good! How 'bout you & your DH's knee?
I had to ASK firmly if I could have my CPM on a few extra times!
I was kind of amazed at how "inflexible" my knee was at first! I did require extra ligament work though...MCL & LCL.
