AGA Marvel Refrigerator - noisy?????

Hello GWrs....hoping one of you owns one of these things and can help me out. Am remodeling a large kitchen and buying all new appliances. Love the stainless steel interior one the AGA Marvel refrigerators, and the price. I went to a local dealer today to check them out before ordering and he did everything he could to talk me out of buying it. They did not have one on the floor - looking at model number MPRO48SS-SS.

According to him they don't have one on the floor because they are exceptionally loud and no dealers will install one. He said he knows this for a fact because he was a Marvel rep until 18 months ago. Then he tried to upsell me on a sub-zero.

I had a bad sub-zero experience, and swore I'd never buy another - besides it is a ton more money.

Called Marvel - they don't have any noise testing data and wouldn't comment.

Does anyone have one, know anyone that does or have some first-hand knowledge about this?

Thanks in advance :)

I have a white AGA Marvel Refrigerator and I LOVE it! We do not have the ice machine hooked up since we have an under-counter ice maker. Our refrigerator is not noisy. I don't notice any sound coming from it. I also have the AGA Legacy stove. I can't tell you how much I love cooking with it. The pieces look great in our 146 year old farmhouse.

Will follow this post with interest.

I too am considering the marvel all freezer 30" and like that it is st steel interior. Am really concerned to not find noise and performance info.

For the record, I am owner of a 21 year all R SZ 36" still going strong, a real advocate of the liebherr all R having installed one in a second home (24" with BioFresh) . I would never spend the money SZ asks because four service techs have told me that they no longer are built to last. Yet they offer things others don't and some posts on GW are real enthusiasts.

But for me, Miele and liebherr are reasonable known alternatives but the marvel (apparently a rebranding of Northland???) is in the running if only we can learn from others!

We have the 48" marvel built in fridge. Installed July 2015. Yes, it is very loud and runs over 90% of the time. The refrigerator module and thermostat have already been replaced with no change in performance. We are about to begin a dispute with marvel and our dealer to return it. I can't listen to this machine for the next 10 years!

Yes the Marvel fridge is very noisy! We are asking the dealer to take it back. We can hear it from our br in the back of the house and it wakes us up at night. Aga is non-responsive after 3 months, so I'm not sure how this will end.

Has anyone had any luck dealing with Ava/Marvel in getting this returned or replaced?

I bought one of these 7 years ago, never installed it because the house we were going to build never happened. I finally installed it in our new house. I'd like to throw it off a cliff. I too went through the replacement of the thermostat. I even swapped the compressors to see if it was the module itself. No luck, the freezer is very noisy and does run pretty much ALL the time. I will never buy another Marvel product again.
