Dog training human.....

I am an intermittent dog trainer. I worked hard at socializing him as a pup because I did not want a nippy little dog. He can run free when I am walking in the back fields without fear of him taki g off. But some of his skills are rusty - and he has a fair bit of terrier stubborness. I hear you I understand but I don't want to right now..... I will fetch and stand on hind legs and place the ball in your hand when you have a treat but no treat no ball.....

So I have been trying to do a short training session at least once a day. Today I was attempting to get him to fetch either a ball or a rope on command. He was very confused but there was turkey involved. Finally he seemed to get it. I wandered off to do something for a minute. When I came back he was very excited. I tossed the two toys in different directions. He ran off and carefully picked up both and came back in triumph. Put them down and then put each one in my hand. Lol.

I've seen many instances of dogs training humans! My brother's dog would not go to bed without my brother, and trained my brother to go to bed when the dog was tired.

My dog loves to lick toes, and has trained my DH to take off his socks. No one else in the family succumbs to the dog's commands!

They surely do elevate our lives, these pups! Very smart little one you have there. He's lucky to have such a loving, caring person in his life, you.

You have such a cute little pup. My dog always train me how to be patient all the time.
Your pup is a smart one and I think he got it from you. Good job of training him at least once a day.

You really do have one cute dog and how fantastic that he "got" the lesson and was so happy to show you!!

I have a little dog too and I took her to obedience class to try to keep her from becoming a tyrant and while she is pretty good, she does sometimes just whine and whine to get her own way. She is very sensitive, so being gruff with her does not go over well at all. A work in progress............

I once had a dog who trained me to get up from my chair and go to the freezer and get her a cookie anytime she rang a jingle bell on the door.

Well, I thought that I had her trained to ring the bell to go out. But I started to make these yummy heart-healthy, whole grain, low fat cookie bars. We kept them in the freezer because they were so low fat that if you did not freeze them, they would fall apart. She liked them, too. So to get me up, she would ring the bell to go out. I would go to the door to let her out, and she would run over to the fridge and stare up at the freezer. She knew that if I was up, maybe I would get a treat for myself and her. She was trying to telegraph her desire for a cookie by staring up at the door of the freezer. Soon, she quit even staying by the door, she would ring the bell and run to the fridge. So I had to start "playing dumb." That poor dog thought I had lost my mind! I would give her fresh water, her toy, a pet - anything but a cookie. I was darned if I was going to be trained to get up with a bell and give her a cookie!
