2015 January Block Lotto

Welcome to the January Block Lotto!
(Posting this one early for those who want to get a jump on the start-of-year blocks.)

The lotto is open to all, and new quilters are encouraged to participate. You will learn much and have fun doing it. Participate in as many or as few Lottos as you want, but even if you don't like the current month's block, think about doing at least one. It's good practice and the winner will appreciate your efforts! Typically, the winner receives enough blocks to complete a nice size quilt. It could be YOU!

Here's the drill:
- you can send 1, 2 or 3 blocks

- all blocks must measure 12.5inches x 12.5inches with no more than 1/4" variation please. With your blocks include name, mailing address, forum name and $1 to cover postage for the winning blocks

- if possible, either attach your name to the back of each block or write your name in the seam allowance with a fabric pen so the winner knows who made the block (this is not a requirement, just a request)

- all blocks received by the last day of the month will be included in the lotto drawing

- you will have 1, 2 or 3 chances to win, depending on how many blocks you've sent in.

Blocks are to be mailed to Linda. She will arrange the collection and dispersal to the winner. If you need her mailing address, you may request it by sending her a message at linda at schultz-assoc.com

The January block is ANTIQUE TILE from Quilters Cache (the pattern link is below). Each block you make will require three fabrics; one dark blue and one light blue, & white (or white on white). Please follow the sample block for placement of light and dark colors.

JANUARY Antique Tile - 12-1/2" White with a light and a dark blue.

Linda, my January, February and March blocks will be sent tomorrow. I've been so busy for the past week, it was a pleasure just to sit and sew. Sue, Val and Theresa, your blocks look great. Thanks much. Lois

My after-holiday mail just arrived and what a treat. I have your three months of work Lois and the whole year's blocks from Theresa. You have both been busy beavers. They are all lovely and I will keep them safe till the appropriate time.

    Thanks, ladies.

My mailman delivered blocks again today. I have a pile of lovely blocks gathering here.

    3 from Beth/Beth7happy
    3 from Nancy/Stitches

Thank you girls. Still a few days of the month left. I'll post a pic of the whole lot before I leave town.

Trying to get this posted to the right thread. Hope it's where it needs to be. I managed to get it in the mail just barely in time for the deadline.

We have a nice bunch to work with this month. I still have 2 coming from Linda/Stitches and then we'll have 20 which lays out to a nice 4 x 5. With sashings and border, it might fit a twin.

Since my mail is held at the post office till I return from the birthday bash, I won't be able to post a winner until Tuesday, Feb. 3rd. Sorry to be late but by then I should be able to have them all in a pile.

These should make a lovely quilt.

I'm back and the last two blocks were waiting for me - thank you Linda H. - so we will draw a winner. I use a low tech method - putting a name in the pile for each block sent and asking someone to pick one out of the pile.

One of my "boys in blue" picked ..............................

    BETH in Florida

I'll have them in the mail to you tomorrow.
