If you truly know nothing about sewing machines, it will take a bit of research to make sure you get the correct items for accessories. There is more than one type/size of bobbin, so you would need to make sure you get the correct one. By the way, I just bought this same machine a few months ago and absolutely love it. But the case that came with it is not truly a carrying case. It doesn't clamp down or have a handle to carry it with. It just slides over the machine and has a hole so that you can put your hand in and lift it (you are actually holding your hand under the throat of the machine). If she is ever going to store it or take it somewhere other than home to use it, a case would be a great accessory. Amazon sells them for less than $25. Otherwise, a gift card to Joann's, Hobby Lobby, or other craft or sewing store would be perfect and she could choose whatever she wants.

I like the gift card idea. She can buy accessories, or fabric, or thread, or scissors, or rulers, or cutting mat, or patterns, or....and on and on.

Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing that you can prob find "used" at ebay or Amazon--has anything she will want to learn to sew. With easy instructions and pictures. The machine user manual will teach her all about the machine. I've been sewing since I made doll clothes at age 8--has always been a passion for me! Maybe she will love it too.

I have the same machine and I love it! I'm sure your daughter will, too. It's very easy to use, sews a whole bunch of stitches, and is very lightweight (the weight is the main reason I got mine).

I second the Reader's Digest book...I have had one for many years and still refer to it occasionally. If you can't find that one look for Simplicity's "Simply the Best Sewing Book."

Some ideas come to mind: good scissors, pins/pin holder, clear plastic thread holder, bobbin holder, seam ripper, extra needles for her machine, disappearing ink pen and sewing basket to hold her supplies. As she becomes more experienced, she may want additional pressure feet for her machine depending on what she is sewing. My favorite is the piping foot.
