Here are my inspiration pics - notice the dark floors with the light showers.... This is what I'm going for.. I'm just wondering if I should go with dark charcoal tile on the shower side walls or pick a light tile option for the shower walls (that go with the glass tile). thanks!

I would not do the dark charcoal tile on the shower walls.....it will feel like a cave.....it also might show soap scum more. The green tile is very pretty.....coordinate a light shade from the mosaic for the shower walls.

Joanie, thanks for the reply. I never thought about the "cave" feel but your are right and I don't want to feel like I'm in a cave, plus my bathroom isn't the biggest to begin with. I am planning on doing the same charcoal tile in the shower base... Sample pic attached (same tile too, it's from lowes) do you think if I go with light walls the dark shower base it will look ok? I want the floors to flow so I was thinking if the shower based matched it would look good..

Do you live in a warm or cold climate?

I agree that you shouldn't put the dark tile on the shower walls, I see no problem with dark on the floor and the lighter green on the walls.

Love the dark floor and light walls. I'm especially fond of ming green, it's going to look great! I've heard white epoxy grout is wonderful to keep clean, don't know firsthand yet. Have to agree about the cave thing.

Yes, I think the charcoal floor in the shower will be fine as it will be the same as the rest of the bathroom.

I like the lightest of the options you provided for the shower. Dark for the shower floor.

Thank you all so much, I woke up and read all this and feel so much better! I was discouraged about the green tile but I do love it so I feel better now. I'm going to keep looking for light tile options to match the green tile. I might still use the lighter option I have pictured above.

Based on your inspiration pics, esp. the one in the top left corner, as well as for other reasons (about to list!), I'd do the floor in teak (or some other kind of wood). Wood is warm - both looking and feeling, which in the winter is wonderful. It never goes out of style and is always beautiful and it goes with everything and every kind of style.

I really like the green glass tile. My only concern with those kinds of tiles is, are they a flash in the pan. It's an expensive thing to do, tile, so you want the look to last a good long time. They also soften up bathrooms a bit, which with all the porcelain and tile is nice.

Subway tile is ALWAYS wonderful.

I wonder what the shower walls are in the upper-left inspiration picture. They look beautiful.

Hahaha tibbrix, I had to google "flash in the pan" and yes I agree the green tile could very well be a fad and in 5-10 years it may scream old or dated BUT I do like it ... I tried picking a glass tile that wasn't too bright or bold/mix in colors hoping it would be more subtle and stay in style for a while ... I can't predict the future but I do know I have a good chance of getting a better look by replacing what I already have. I appreciate the suggestions. I love the wood floors but I just installed 900 sq ft of solid wood in the house and I wouldn't want to mix hardwood types in my home, and what I have now isn't made for bathrooms. Did I mention I'm in a cookie cutter neighborhood, so nothing too fancy here. :)

Sochi I have looked at your bathroom hundreds of times. It's my favorite! I hope you're ok with me using the pic, otherwise I can delete it. I looked up your tile but they don't show a store in MO and I'm thinking its over my budget :) a girl can dream though

I need a little more help everyone, I've narrowed down the vanity countertop to two choices - both hanstone, the more speckled one is swan cotton and the other is aurora snow. My dream countertop was alway swan cotton but the more I look at it it's almost too much speckle... What are your thoughts?

No problem using the picture! I prefer the aurora, and looking at your inspiration pictures I think the aurora is closer to the relatively laid back features of those bathrooms.

Thanks Sochi, I like your taste and agree the aurora is more laid back. Plus some of the specks in swan cotton have yellowish colors which I wasn't fond of...

My dream bathroom would have a tile shower floor with a custom fit teak mat. I've looked online and found a couple options, like I said, your bathroom is one i have looked at a hundred times, I love everything about it. :)

When I mentioned teak to my contractor I could just see the wheels spinning in his head. Meanwhile I was telling myself to quit looking Pinterest-- too many ideas and I'm already over budget hahaha
