How did you make the bulbous part of the table legs?

These table legs are gorgeous. How did you fashion them? With a free-hand band saw? Or did you actually carve them by hand? Or some other way? Either way, it's a priceless look.

Hi. We glue up or use solid reclaimed wood from very large beams we salvage from old building in Los Angeles and than it's a circa 1945, rather large bandsaw thats does the magic... actually our master carpenter but the bandsaw makes the job pretty easy. We've been building this design since 1990 and we were inspired by similar designs so I'm sure this style has been around for a very long time, classic and modern at the same time. Thanks Jerod
