Miniature Bamboo

I have recently purchased a Variegated German Bamboo (Poganatherum crinitum 'variegata'), and was wondering whether it could be trained to appear as a miniature bamboo, in a bonsai planting. I know that it is a true grass, rather than a bamboo, but I wonder if anyone here has experience with cultivating it as a representation of a bamboo in a bonsai planting. If so, could you provide any advice on the techniques involved in accomplishing this?

Actually, I was just wondering whether this plant could be cultivated to appear as a miniature bamboo- or what 'true' bamboo plants could be maintained as miniatures (maybe there are none). I am more interested in the form of the plant, than a bonsai, specifically.

There is a Pleioblastus distichus 'Mini' that grows to about 1 foot tall but it doesn't have the miniature bonsai quality I think you want. I don't know of a way to train bamboo to look like a miniature.
