Yes, absolutely. It passes COF and we have used it in hotel guest room shower floors in 6x6.

The term porcelain has become to tile as Kleenex is to tissue. When picking porcelain tile, choose one that has "through body color." Some tiles have only a ceramic glaze fired over the body; if chipped, the lighter clay base underneath will be exposed.

For safety in wet areas look for a tile with a high coefficient of friction, 10 being the most slip-resistant.

Installing porcelain tile is a more difficult do-it-yourself project. Its density and hardness require a wet saw with a porcelain diamond blade. For proper surface adhesion, use a latex modified thinset mortar. For large-format porcelain tiles, a level substrate is needed to reduce variations in height.

Great answers! We also actually have tiles that are R11 and even higher in slip resistance. For ASTM standards, to pass COF, a tile must have a slip resistance greater than .60 wet.

To be classified as a porcelain, a tile must be fired in excess of 1200 degrees celsius, which results in a vitreous material that has an extremely low water absorption rate. The majority of our materials exceed standards, and have a water absorption rate of less than .05%.
