Am not good at posting pictures. TV by fireplace must stay...not necessarily on sewing table, but husband in wheelchair and this is the only room (with "his" TV) he can get into right now. Wall with horses looks into DR. Other pic looking into foyers. The foyer color is pulled from the fireplace, which also has the sage green of the sofa. The "chaise" is part of the sectional we can't use right now....am planning to move that to another room, once I get rid of the loveseat in that room!

thanks, y'all! Don't have an area rug as husband fell down (TWO!!!) front steps in August and crushed his spine....in electric wheelchair, but hoping he'll make full recovery! (also why decorating never got done). Think we could have area rug, but scared to commit....don't want anything too busy, as would clash w/fireplace, which is my pride and joy. Probably can't purchase credenza at this time, but I DO have an antique oak library table that might work better. Definitely more solid, but also more "rustic" or "country" than other pieces.

decoenthusiast: in my other house the picture in the foyer (you can see in one of the pics) was above the fireplace. Is 42 W X 28 T vs the sunflowers which is 41 x 41 (sure doesn't look SQUARE, does it??) but frame is outdated...was thinking of spraypainting it...and is awfully busy (very fluid, which is why I love it) Firebox (opening) is only 38 inches, so guess it wouldnt work anyway. ALSO have matching large ottoman, which in other house used as coffee table w/old aluminum tray (which is on glass coffee table, which I'm also thinking about spray painting) Horses are only 35 W x 15 H and that's a BIG wall....do you think they would be lost? Two other problems....would love to put sectional where you suggested, but the wall next to the foyer is only 63 inches, and the shortest part of the sectional is 84. :( Also, the cable for the TV comes out of the floor right there and cable co says it can't be moved as basement is finished....would have to run it over fireplace. Hate to sound like such a Negative Nelly, but am limited in ability to move things. (LOVED the idea of moving the sectional, as love looking out that window, and would have loved to move TV too, as I didn't even want a tv in the room and it is now an ugly focal point) THANK YOU, though!!

If this is your forever home, you may want to make some adjustments so it works the way you'd like it and not the way your furniture or cable dictates. Worth the money to have your forever home just right for you.

had a thought about the cable and think we could run that thru the garage....but don't know how to make the wall wider!! LOL (and circumstances do not allow any major purchases until Steve is on his feet and one or both of us can go back to work) Do you think the foyer picture would work over the fireplace, or is it too busy? You seem to have a lot of knowledge and I appreciate your time!

Erin- nearest IKEA 2 hours away, but have seen those hacks..they ARE amazing and may be the route to go. Went thru about 30 pages of Houzz last night and THOUGHT I saved a bunch of pics for "fireplaces with bookshelves", but when I looked in "Your Houzz" they weren't there....guess I'll learn!!!

We're all struggling with the new buttons and workings of Houzz this week. May be a steeper learning curve than they anticipated.

OK....finally had help getting the sunflower pic down. Here are some options. Changed around some of the mantle pieces, but they don't necessarily go together (or at all!) Just had them in the "Use or Discard" box from the move!

None of pics are hung of course....

...and the candle holders, if used, would have candles in them! Another question: on the "busy" pic (currently in red-orange foyer (shows in other pic)...as reframing/matting isn't in the budget, what do you think of spray-painting the frame and painting the mat a different color? What colors?

One last thing...the one pic over the fireplace is two elephants and is paper art, not painted. My sister HATES it, but I kinda like it for SOMEWHERE...just maybe not THERE!
