Having trouble with long posts

Yay! I think they are actually listening to us, and trying to make things better. Now there are links above to the other rose forum - you don't have to go back 2 or 3 pages.

One thing that happened to me today seems like a glitch - about halfway through a long post, the written post started to giggle around and act really weird - it would not stay where I was typing. It did let me keep typing, but it was not easy. Has anyone else had this happen?

I'm test trying a comment for the third time. Each time when I hit submit it kicked me out and a thread from 2012 showed up in its place. Very frustrating. Wonder what will happen this time. Ingrid

Well, it actually worked although I did absolutely nothing different this time. Oh well, hopefully this will soon all be a problem of the past....

Yes, Jackie that happened to me as well this afternoon. Very weird. The first time, my whole post vanished when I persevered. The second time, I rewrote from memory and thought to copy what I was writing as it got long. The jiggling started, but I wasn't able to keep typing past a certain post, so I ended that post and continued on in a second one.

I've had that problem with trying to post some photos in a test thread that wirosarian set up over on the rose forum. You can post up to 4 photos from your computer in a post but you can't post them as a group. You have to keep going back to the photo insert button and add them one at a time. The problem was every time I tried to place the next photo it kept taking me all the way up to the top of my post instead of going down to the next line. I finally got it to do what I wanted but it was a hassle.

As I mention in another post, I too am getting the jiggling around with longer messages. Also, I miss "preview." Also, I wish the link back to the general listing of forum postings were at the bottom of the page in addition to being at the top (the bottom is where we usually are when we want to go back to the general listing!). And I still find the shopping cart ominous. Is anyone here shopping while posting messages?

Ha! I sent an inquiry to Houzz (just go to the bottom of this page and click on Contact Us, and ignore all of the FAQs and you will find a place to send them an email). They responded within an hour or so. It is not supposed to do that. They told me to use a different browser and see if that got rid of the problem. Will try that tomorrow.

Hmm. IE (what I use) is not exactly an obscure browser. They're being somewhat unaccommodating if we have to tailor our cyber-life to their style.

Odinthor, I took a look at what they had available gardening-related and didn't find anything I was interested in buying. The shopping area is pretty awkward for plant stuff. I do actually need some fertilizer, as in fish emulsion, but they had none of the brands I use. Mostly brands I'd never heard of before, with the exception of Dr. Earth. It's available locally but quite overpriced for what it is. So its off to either Amazon which does stock brands I use, or one of my local nurseries which also do.

Update - when I used Chrome this morning, the exact same thing happened after I wrote about one para. So, I emailed back to the Houzz folks and told them that. I just got a further email from them saying that they have figured out that there is a real problem, and they are working on a fix. They have actually been VERY accomodating to me with 2-3 issues I raised with them by email. Responses the same day, fixes within 2 days. Of course, it helps if you are polite and thank them for what they are doing to try and improve things - "you can catch more flies with honey....".

Right; but who wants sticky flies?

I use Opera. I know probably no one has even heard of it let alone uses it but I like it. Anyway, I've noticed that some of the issues I was having with long posts and having trouble with getting pictures in my posts etc. have begun to clear up some. That's good because it lets me know someone is trying to fix things somewhere.

I'm still not happy that I can not seem to post photos from my photobucket any more. I've even tried using the link button below but no soap. They just show up as code and not pictures. Anyone got a clue about that one?
