Orchard visit

It's unseasonably warm (worrisome so, in fact) here and we took advantage of the conditions to visit a nearby cider orchard that is just being established.

Billingsley Cider Orchard consists of about 2300 trees, mostly on Geneva 18, I think, and should produce a decent crop this year. I was amazed to learn that they have a number of classics, and they very kindly gave me a little Cox's Orange Pippin, Calville Blanc d'Hiver, and Pomme Gris. I tried to encourage them to start selling scion wood but they showed no interest.

Anyhow, I'm just thrilled to have these with good provenance and hope to be sampling in 2018!

I shared Rubinette, Karmijn d'Sonneville, Liberty, and Sweet 16 with them.

It's a good life.
