Good idea! Why have a big expensive appliance when you don't need one?

Do have a good look at your design vis-a-vis a garage. They're "out" because people get frustrated with the doors and then they sit open, and the side walls cut into the counterspace, etc. You save several inches of counter if you just let them sit out. If you have enough counter to give up to an appliance cabinet, most people currently are running a regular wall cabinet all the way down to the counter (with counter inside) rather than doing a separate garage. I'm not saying not to do a garage if that's what works for you. Just look at the options if you haven't already. :)

We purchased that for our pantry where all appliances sit and love it. DH prefers to have it close to oven where what is defrosting or butter melting will be used but that is about once a month so into the pantry it went. Check out Lowes - I believe we got it there 6 months ago for $121 and have a 5% off Lowes credit card we just use to get the discount and pay if off each month.

I forgot to add-- guests come to my house and assume it's a television. Several have asked where the microwave is.

Me, too. Toaster and microwave will be in a 2'x2' cabinet (split by a shelf) under the steam oven.

We have that Whirlpool "tv" microwave, too. It sits out on the counter in our small condo kitchen. We were able to put most of our other lesser used appliances in a drawer/pullout, so there's not much else on the counter. That little microwave works just fine for reheating, melting, etc. We were able to find it a bit cheaper than Amazon at a local appliance store and they even delivered it for free.
