It's hard to tell exactly what color the roof is, but how about a hardy plank in the same/similar color as the brick and black shutters? Maybe a dark grey door. That may balance out the front of the house (now one side is light and one side is dark). Enjoy!

A deep burnt orange might look nice for your shutters. What is behind the long door shutters? You may want to remove those.

I assume you are still looking for ideas. I am inclined to remove the shutters entirely. But then, I just don't care for most shutters, and feel a good solid window molding is better.

I have read that the roof should be darker than the house color, so I guess whatever color you choose for the siding needs to be lighter than the grey/violet. I just can't tell on my iPad what color that brick is. Looks like a rosy beige?

Maybe without the shutters, and with different flower pots out front, you won't mind the yellow so much?

I actually like the siding color. I would definitely change the color of the shutters though. Have you tried navy blue on the shutters? I would then paint the door turquoise, yellow, bright blue, or any bright color. You could even paint the door white. I might beef up or remove the railing on either side of the door too.

actually, the brick is a medium sand color. Those two stupid trees will be history as soon as I can either find someone to remove them or buy a chain saw and do it myself. I do think I'll start by taking off the door shutters. I have to wait to paint the whole house (cash poor right now from buying the house) but definitely need to get rid of those bright wine colored shutters and repaint the door asap.

Another color combo: Paint the shutters dark grey and the front door coral. I wouldn't worry about removing the shutters right away. Doing so may involve patch work or additional painting. If there's one thing I know, the costs of buying a home quickly add up.

Just pick a light color (greyish, say) from the roofing. Here's an example using a gray and changing the red shutters to charcoal (while getting rid of the door shutters!!):

This is a huge improvement. However, I think you don't want your garage door to be this much of a focus, so I'd suggest painting it a similar color in a slightly darker tone, which would make it recede a bit visually while helping to balance the stone on the other side. I threw in a brighter door color for good measure -- look where your eye goes now! :)

You could obviously go more greenish, or more tan (in the direction of the brick), but this general tone. Get a nice porch light, some more visible house numbers, and some flowers around the door and you'll be HOME!

I like acm's second pic with the garage door painted, but with the existing front door color--a red with a little violet gray in it but no shutters on the door or the windows. That would show off the nice lines of the house. The painted garage in matching gray would extend the visual length of the house.

There's a lot you could do with landscaping. Those two conifers should be moved elsewhere in your yard. (Maybe the smaller of the two could go between the windows on the right.) Then add some low, interesting everygreen shrubs in both beds under the windows with some great looking grasses and a perennial flowering plant or two in reds.

I think you could paint the siding to match the brick this will make the house feel larger you could go with blue or olive shutters.

Oh, I'm going to swim upstream and say that at least from the pic, I like the shutter and door color as it is. Everyone has red or blue, etc but if it blends with the roof, I'd leave it. I even like the yellow altho' on my monitor it looks pale not bright. I guess you really hate it tho' so my vote would be for the dark and light grays acm suggested leaving the door as is but removing the shutters from them. I agree the railings need some jazzing up. Maybe paint them dark gray, too, if that's the color you decide on. Choosing color is so hard, isn't it. Good luck.
