try to see whole slabs as opposed to sample squares before you choose. those gold flecks look really different when they go on forever. veining gets more interesting.

Both work, but I would prefer Typhoon Bordeaux.

Typhoon will add more interest I also think having a lighter granite is more versatile than a dark brown or black. the lighter granite goes well with any cabinet color dark or light

I think the black looks better, especially with your flooring.

Both are very good choices, I think, so you'll do well with either choice.

Prefer the black one

Whichever you like, but I would probably do the island different than the other countertops - but I would not mix the two choices you have as I can see them here. If you go with the black, maybe something light on the island.

Go with lighter one. Dark ones show crumbs, etc always look they have to be wiped

Make sure you pick at a slab yard and account for the right angle on the bar end and where a seam will go. Typhoon Bordeaux has a lot of movement and you want to be sure it's going in the same direction throughout the kitchen. I like the black, but don't think it'll work well. Are you redoing the floor? That's a major consideration and you want the counters and floor to work together.
