Kitchen layout/remodel help

So i bought this condo and i plan to remodel the whole kitchen. i want to stick with ikea cabinets. I'm think of removing the wall separating the kitchen from the dining area including pantry. i also want to remove the broom closet and hallway closet to create a galley kitchen. just want advice and help with what kind of layout i should go for i guess. I'm new here btw :)

here is the current layout i mocked up :/

here are some pictures of what the kitchen looks like

Just to make sure I'm understanding right: it looks like you have an entrance to the hallway on that other side - what would be the second side of the galley - is that right? Are you planning to seal off that entrance?

The layout and photos are helpful. If you could do one more diagram showing the hallway/entry, dining, and any other adjacent spaces so we can see the flow of the house better, that would be great.

I assume the hallway closet is for coats? Do you have another place for coats or will that need to be added in the new layout in a different location? That question, and I'm sure many more, could be answered with a diagram showing more of the space.

@Carrie B yea i plan to close that entry to the hall but I'm thinking maybe having an entrance where the broom closet is in the bottom left corner of the layout

@funkycamper yea there is a second coat closet. The hallway is the length of the kitchen and its 30 to 36 inches wide

here are pics of the dinning area of this condo and also better pictures of another unit but the exact same layout as mine

What's your condo allow to be done re moving services? Do you already have a contractor approved by the condo board involved already?

@live_wire_oak no not yet but another unit removed their wall separating the kitchen from the dining area so i just need to get approval about removing the closets and pantry i guess

Is this what you intend? A solid wall on the left? No wall on the right to dining room to make it semi-open concept? Door on lower left to hall? I just wanted to make sure I understood your before working up a plan.

    More questions:

Are those dark squares on each corner some kind of structural support or where services are routed? Can they be removed or made smaller or are those untouchable?

Can your fridge be recessed elsewhere along that wall? Some lines are lost on the embedded diagram so you might need to click on it to enlarge it and see all.

Have you had a chance to read the "New to Kitchens" thread or the "Layout Help" FAQ? The FAQ contains a description of the the information we need to give you useful design help. The information includes such things as how you plan to use your kitchen, the composition of your family, etc. A fully measured layout is needed as well - the actual width of each wall/window/door/doorway and the distances b/w each wall/window/door/doorway.

Here's a link to the Layout Help FAQ: How do I ask for Layout Help and what information should I include?.

    .

Regarding IKEA cabinets - be aware they are very limited in size. Are you a DIYer? If so, then you may be able to "hack" IKEA cabinets to get the sizes you need/want. In the past, I would have sent you to IKEAFans for help, but since IKEA shut down IKEAFans (reneging on their past informal partnership), that site is no longer available.

    .

Do you have a layout of the entire floor the kitchen is on (with rooms labeled & door swings noted -although swings can often be changed)?

@funkycamper yea thats exactly what i was thinking. Ill have to ask about those areas and see if they're support beams or something

OK, that helps but do check out Buehl's suggestions and give us that information, too. It will be easier to make a plan and you'll probably get more people participating.

Are these the dimensions? Can that recessed area be expanded by 16" to 19" in width (i.e., to 49" to 52" wide)?

Or...is this the current door position?

And/or, is this what you're aiming for (based on your response to FunkyCamper)?

Would you consider having the Hall doorway on the right side (near the DR wall)?

@buehl idk if I'm able to make the recessed area wider but id really too if i can so ill talk to whoever to see whats behind that wall. Ill try to get more measurements of the kitchen next time i see it. we go to closing on the 26th. But id prefer the door to the hall on the left side because it'll be closer to foyer area when you walk into the condo.

    thanks for the help btw.

    Here's another alternative.

Appliance garage in the recessed area.

I didn't center the range, so there can be a secondary prep area b/w the pantry cab and the range.
