I suggest you type in "thermafoil kitchen cabinets" in the space at the top of the page that says "Search Advice & More..." to find previous discussions of this subject on Houzz. There have been quite a few and should help you make a decision.

Would only get thermafoil as last resort. If money is tight, you can get good quality RTA cabinets with wood doors for less than cabinets with thermafoil doors.

I had thermafoil doors and would never get them again. As I was cooking over high heat I watched the my cabinet door bottom closest to the stove shrink back . I was heartbroken. I was able to replace the door but had to cook with cabinet doors on both sides of range open and exhaust fan on to avoid this happening again.

I had white thermafoil cabinets in a $1M home, new construction in 2004. They looked fine, but those began to peel after 7 years. Two houses later, I am now doing a remodel on a home in the Bay Area, and I just visited a reputable cabinet supplier who has a newer Thermofoil product - they say the newest generation of Thermofoil is more durable and better made than its predecessors. They are 40% less than painted wood cabinets.... this is a tough one. Anyone get Thermofoil cabinets installed recently and like or dislike them?
