Here are some of the local fauna who stopped by the yard last summer.

This is (I think) a Horace's Duskywing, a name that sounds a little harry potteresque to me. I did not see any swallowtails or monarchs all summer at this house. I hope the reason is just because my property didn't have any suitable habitat in time for them to discover it. I am working to rectify that issue.

Larry the lizard wandered over from nearby Lizard Lick (such a funny name!). I never encountered any lizards at the old house in PA, so at first I thought Larry was a really big salamander.

And here is a rather large peeping mantis who startled me when I noticed her/him on the window looking in at me.
