You're not ready for a rug. You need a workable furniture arrangement first, and that means finding another place for the TV. And getting your furniture off the walls.

What are the dimensions of the room?

And everything in your ideabook is transitional? Is that the way you want to go? Because if it is, then you really need to replace that front door.

What about two sofas back to back one facing the fire place and the other facing a room divider/TV cabinet? That leaves the front entrance open for a chest and a small chair.

Here's a start. Put the sofa here to create a proper entry with a console table on the wall behind it. TV goes at the fireplace end of the room, perhaps on the wall to the left of the dining room opening, on a swivel mount.

Ceiling fan has to go. You can have a fan, but not that one. ;-)

I would start by creating an entry way--replacing tv/media console with a dresser or console table, a mirror/artwork, and maybe a standing coat rack to the left of the door. To the right of the door place something that acts as a room divider--a sofa facing the fp end of the room, a bookcase or room divider or even the media center. I don't know how big the room is but you could have three zones--entry, television viewing and a small seating arrangement for the fireplace. Not a fan of the rug--it reminds me of camo and is cold looking. The fp is large and weighs that end of the room down, so balance it with something large at the other end and lighten up around the fp with less small artwork on the walls-go with a large mirror or art on either side and de-clutter the area as the stone is busy enough. I would go eclectic if you cannot afford a new door, ceiling fan, etc. and lots of soft furnishing since the fp/stove and flooring are all hard surfaces.
