My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
Has anyone used Elastilon for laying hardwood floors over a concrete slab? If so, what were the results and how long ago did you do it? thanks very much.
Shortcuts make for long travel. No serious contractor would ever use that stuff. Polyurethane glues over slab are what need to happen for engineered wood on slab----after the proper moisture tests have been done.
Here is the truth! There has been millions of square feet of Elastilon used to successfully install hardwood flooring directly over concrete all over the world. Over the past 20 years, it has proven itself in both the wettest and driest of environments and has been used by serious contractors and DIY'ers alike. With thinking like this we would still be building homes with mud and straw.
I heard about it for the first time at the Home Show in Seattle. I would like to hear from someone who has used it in their home and had no problems with their floors. Is it newer in the US which would not surprise me. It seems to sometimes take a long time for things to make their way here.
There has been generations of floors glued down with no issues. Unless this stuff is significantly cheaper than glue, you're not gonna get any pro to ever spec it. The high bid never gets the job.
I am very concerned about gluing down hardwood on a concrete slab because of concern about cupping and gapping and cannot use plywood because I won't have room for doors. I live where there is pretty high humidity a fair bit of the year which is why I am trying to be careful. I would prefer not to use engineered wood because my dog has nails that are hard on floors so want to have the ability to sand and refinish multiple times if needed.
