I think it will be overkill, and look like a Siberian landscape.

If you're serious about painting your cabinets, you need to do it right, or you're going to be very unhappy with them. They need to be sprayed, and you need to take the uppers down, and do them in the garage. You'll want to sand them good, and possibly prime them depending on what type of wood they are. You also need to get cabinet paint. If you aren't able to do this yourself, hire it done.

An all white space can be quite striking.... I like the look of using the same white everywhere but use different sheens - mattes right up to high gloss! This way the light will pick up on the differences... if you mix whites sometimes you can create something that might look "dirty" or "dingy" when they are next to eachother....You could also consider painting the walls a very pale color ....and of course don't forget great accessories! The colors in those will be what drawers everyone's attention....In this kitchen you can see how the white is broken up by the appliances and the books in the island, the table etc...

I agree with Debbi Washburn - all white can look very chic and open up a small space to seem bright and inviting. I would, however, caution against using different shades of white as well.

An all white kitchen begs for a pop of color here and there, so think about what you want your palette to be, and pick a few pieces of art to enliven the space. Try something sculptural for an extra kick of excitement.

Thank you. The counters are soapstone, so there is that definition, and we're replacing the current matching island for a rustic wood island to add warmth. I'm only doing this to hold me over until we can do a full remodel a few years down the road, so this isn't permanent.
