At first I was going to say rotary cutter.....but really......the internet! What a fantastic tool to help educate, design, share, make friends, and where can you get the answer to a question in 30 seconds????

Great question, and while we are all adjusting to the new format here, "do you ever want to be without it again"?

oh yeah!! The Internet...of COURSE!! (but before seeing that answer, I was thinking of something else!). It's a Sew Easy Ruler/Cutter that was a gift from my sister. At first I didn't think I'd like it...just didn't use it! Well...come to find out, it was broken!! No wonder I didn't like it! So, after many months of the Sew Easy Ruler/Cutter being jammed in the closet, I took it back to my favorite Quilt Place and they replaced it for me. Now, I'd really hate to be without it! (I recommend putting that on your 'wish list'!!)

Hmmm... Well there are the obvious, rotary cutter, the Easy angle, 6 1/2" square, but thinking about it...it's the pointer tool thingy that was a giftee from Marsha, aka MagothyRiverGirl , at the 2012 or 2013 retreat. That is just the handiest thing to have at my side when piecing...love it...thanks Marsha. I'm also very fond of my toolgranny seam ripper...I hate to rip, but if I must, that is my go to ripper- thank you Linda.

Oh, I agree Bev. And I also use that little pointy thing from Marsha. We're lucky to have so many handy gadgets from friends. I have pincushions sitting all around the room and many of them have come from friends.

I love to hand-piece quilt blocks so I would not want to be without my 4" diameter emery pin cushion for sharpening my straight pins and needles as I go. And of course the internet.

I agree with grammyp. It would have to be my Janome 6600, which I love. I had tried quilting earlier with my old machine and was very discouraged. I stopped quilting for a year and then bought my Janome. I restarted quilting and haven't stopped since.

Ya know, once you get used to a tool, it becomes a gotta have. I'm sorry, but I cannot answer this question....too many must haves. Sewing machine, rotary and mat, rulers, pins, lights, ......ok, I admit it, I'm spoiled. :-) And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah...I love my Bernina...my first one was difficult, but I made a trade 3 years ago and we've been happy together ever since!

My Viking Lily; I'm using a Janome gem here in Florida and it's just not the same. Also my Clover seam ripper. It's the best.

As a new quilter I don't have too many 'jazzy' tools that I just can't be without - but using my walking foot attachment on my machine has made such a difference in sewing blocks and quilt sandwiches.

Linda Hamende, How 'new' of a quilter are you? As you can probably tell, we love looking at pictures, so feel free to show us what you've made. Not wanting you to feel left out, we can most likely help you get some jazzy tools. :-)

Val & Linda, Thanks for the mention of the pointy thing --stiletto--from retreat; it warms my heart to hear you like it and use it.
I agree with Sharon, I don't want to live without any of the 'tools of the trade' I use. Now......There's a few things I have acquired that I definitely can live without, but that's for another QofTD :)

Sharon, I am sitting in my big ole chair, covered up with a quilt, heated rice bag on my feet, lap top in my lap. Wonder what I can cook up ....
