Thank you for your suggestion. Never thought about sanding the counters and repainting, not a bad idea! The counters are definitely NOT cleanable right now, which is a pain. I also really like white kitchens:)

If you never use the table why not replace it with a pantry for storage or a small moveable island for counter space.

Lila, I had thought about this before, replacing the table with a moveable island! I'm glad you think it's a good idea too:) Doesn't make sense to keep the table if we don't even use it.. except for clutter, ugh!

I think you have room in your kitchen for a small island. I understand you are on a budget, so possibly look for something that you can use later when you renovate your kitchen or get one that is as inexpensive as possible while still being sturdy. I prefer you look for something good enough to use later because I don't want you wasting your money. If your remodel is more than 5 years off, consider a laminate floor perhaps that can be floated on top of the linoleum. If you have some DIY skills, they are not too hard to install, but also the big box stores have been offering 99 cent per sqft installation. I would put a hutch or pie safe where the table is. You might be able to find something in a consignment store that you can paint and clean up. The same for the island - I've seen people use a dresser topped with a granite remnant or butcher block or wood.

Do you see any way to remove the countertop? Big box stores have inexpensive laminate stock counters - especially since you have so little counter space - just like me:)

It might not be your style, but I think batten board or a beadboard wainscot would look great.

I like the pewter and the white already. Can you build or buy a deeper cabinet above the fridge so all the stuff up there would be in a cabinet? I can't imagine you use those shallow ones above the fridge much now since they're so far back and blocked by stuff.

I love your wall colors! And don't repaint the kitchen cabinets. I love the look of white kitchen cabinets. It's so classic!
My only suggestion would be getting rid of that round table pushed to one corner. If space allows it, float an industrial style kitchen island in the middle of your kitchen.

I think you would really benefit from the services of a Professional Organizer who can help you de clutter and also create a better work flow. A good way to get clarity on what you will want when you are ready to remodel. POs generally work in 3 hour slots and are a wealth of information and organization. I also was going to suggest the Rustoleum counter solution. Also, check out Ikea for some of there laminate and butcher block countertops, you could do that whole kitchen probably near $300. Ikea also has some great moveable island solutions. Add some nice new hardware and badabing, much better.

Floors, check out pinterest for some floor painting solutions.

The first thing I would do is empty every closet, drawer and cabinet. Get rid of anything you haven't used in 6 months! You have tons of cabinets! You shouldn't need to store over the fridge! Go to IKEA and buy complete sets of glassware, dishes, utensils and mugs. Get rid of mismatched stuff. Refresh the cabinets with white paint and hardware! Go to the Depot and buy linoleum squares (black /white or grey/ white) for a checkerboard look for the floor. Pick a curtain valence that will hang just behind the curved wooden valence. Edit the nick nacks! If you have to wait years for your dream kitchen - I would buy a counter you can afford that still makes you happy. Toss the table for storage. Paint an old hutch from consignment! Love the idea of repurposing a chest of drawers with remanent granite! Good luck!

Love the idea of a move-able island! We definitely don't use that table, so it's time to get rid of it and find something more functional:) I would love to find something rustic looking! I might even try Craigs List.

Definitely need to go through my cabinets and de-clutter... get rid of what we don't use!! New hardware and refreshing the cabinet paint is a great idea as well!
