You could also consider moving them up a few inches higher off the countertop. We tend to recommend hanging heights of 28-34 inches above the countertop, but since you have such long shades on your fixtures, going up higher than 30 could help. Try making a rendering of that to see how it looks and if you like that.

Reducing the number of pendants is also something to consider. Often we recommend (based on these guidelines) a pendant mounted every 2 feet or so above an island and the amount of pendants recommended varies based on the size of the pendant. I'd suggest making a rendering of that too to compare and contrast with my other suggestion.

I like when island pendants are lower vs high (feels cozier) - as long as you can't bump your head - in my books that works. I would reduce to three lights though to make that area feel less busy.

Yeah I think it will be alright. I do like the way they look in my rendering, but I may cut it down to 3 or 4. I read an article on here how you're supposed to keep your pendant #'s to an odd number. I've seen plenty of islands with 4 pendants and it looked alright to me.

Any plans to exhaust the fumes from the cooktop? Would that change your configuration?

I would do three pendants.

@Todd - We considered doing a down draft, but after much consideration and advise from our Cabinet company/contractor we decided to forgo it. FL Code doesn't require exhaust fans with electric cooktops/ranges. We don't have one now and I can honestly say that there hasn't really been but a few times where we may have needed it. Plus, they supposedly don't really do as good a job as advertised.

I did a couple different views. One with 3 and the other with 4 pendants.

three is ample, provided there are plenty of other light sources. though i might have gone with a different color pendant.

Cool lights. I would reduce them to three or four.

I've now seen your rendering. IMO 4 pendants look better.

Thanks for the comments. Our kitchen was finished about a year ago and here is how it turned out. BTW - we ended up going with the 3 lights. @nnelson1 - Yeah you should be good. Once its installed you wont even notice. We've gotten so many compliments on the pendants.
