Which rug is everyone referring to that they like?

I vote for the Evelyn, but I would consider a black and white as well. Very visually stimulating for baby.

Hi Polly, honestly any of those rugs would look great. The pinks are great and the gray is great for contrast. All are really nice picks. Depends?..... also, what other items/colors/patterns are you thinking about bringing into the space? :)

Something similar to this would be pretty.

You could center bed under window and widen the cornice the sheers are hanging from to go beyond window.

Never place a crib under the window .

Thanks for rug advice. As far as other patterns, the lighting I did is white roses. But my other daughter's room is a shabby chic theme. I really like pink and flowers but want both rooms to look somewhat different. Thinking maybe hearts or stripes, polka dots. I dunno I'm all over the place! Thx for all the help!

We did books and beds in one room, and toys, clothes and crayons in the second. It worked well for our strict nap regimen! All kids were asleep in one storytelling. Plus they were going to bed in a boring, neat room. All of our infants were programmed for 4am wake-ups the first year, so we did keep the crib in our bedroom until they grew out of it.

Other ideas, buy a paper lantern and glue on some pink flowers or butterflies, did something similar for my grandchild

I like the pink and grey chevron pattern because I think it would go great with the crib you have and all of the other elements you already have in the room. It stays soft and feminine without going overboard on the pink and doesn't look dated.

I love the pink and gray personally, but I would offer this piece of advice.

Consider how you want your baby to feel in this room. Is it for play or rest? Use the stimulating colors/patterns in play areas and relaxing colors/patterns where she should be resting.

More of an area for rest. We have a basement that is a play room and I feel like every room in the house is a play room! Lol

Window treatments, an area rug, some accessories and a BABY! LOL

Pretty color, but please no bumper pads, blankets or stuffed toys in the bed. Check w you pediatrician on the safe sleep guidelines.

Congrats on your new baby. I love both of the rooms. My suggestion would be to make the rooms opposite of each other. I would start by pulling the rug from the toddler room to bring into the baby room. There is a nice subtle pink in that rug. Then getting a soft pink rug with yellow accents in it for the toddler room.

Also, we have those white pull down light blocking shades in 2 of our rooms. 6 windows. They all broke after a year and we have to roll up by hand. When they are down they fall to the ground. Keep what you have now for the time being so that baby (and hopefully mommy) sleeps. Curtains or blinds you really want can come later. There is always something out there !

I think you can accomplish a lot of with window treatment, bedding, and rugs.

For an unusual, adorable, and fairly inexpensive "pop" to their baby room, a friend of mine had baby/childhood photos of herself and her husband enlarged, then framed them in "fancy" Goodwill-purchased frames painted to match their baby room decor. It was totally adorable! Walmart or Costco enlarge photos to poster-size quite inexpensively these days!

why black shades? may be a soft grey fits better. floor may be comleted with a thick cotton rug such as dhurries.

I think a cute printed rug ( maybe with a floral print) would be cute and cozy! I also think that white curtains would be cute in the room. Maybe you could do some cute wall decorations, with initials?

I never placed my babies in their cribs during the daytime (never before 7pm). During daylight hours, they slept in a playpen in the living room or on a thick comforter in the floor of whatever room I was working in -- it really helped to regulate their sleep patterns and to learn day from night. For this reason, I see no need for black-out shades in children's rooms. I would put down a rug with a pretty pattern in it, and hang roman shades in a pattern that coordinates with the rug. Maybe narrow shelving on the wall for books.

Also, I like the idea of bringing in some green for the pink--maybe some faux plants or a green/roses rug? Or the baby's name in green monogram letters on the wall?

I really like that McKenna rug, though all four are cool. That's also a great way to bring in the other color(s) you decide to use: grey, black, green, whatever. :)

I would add a beautiful Mirror as shown in pic 1-2, wall art shown in pic 2 (crown) and frames pic 3, canvas pic 4 and maybe some armoire pic 3 :) A rug is a must and maybe a velvet ottoman or chair in your preferred color :) also pic 3 has beautiful, colorful velvet bedding! I have mirror 1 crown in 2 frames in 3 and the canvas in 4 and I can say they are ALL beautiful :) Best Wishes! Please post finished pics!

I love the fabric for the roman shades. Having had two girls who are now 12 and 15, I may suggest to not choose a color palette that limits what you add to it. If you choose a fabric with three colors you will always feel that if it isn't one of those colors (or a shade close) you can't use it in her room. I loved the diamond quilt from Land of Nod as it had so many soft and beautiful colors it didn't matter what I added to the room (no longer available it seems). I was free to pick what I loved and it worked. (I am not into matchy-matchy anyway.) So definitely intro. more colors--you can still get the same feel if you want soft. Your crib frame is beautiful and lends itself to a somewhat vintage/glamorous look. Layer on the soft colors (can still incorporate bolder hues if you want) and white/off whites I say. And don't forget texture--you can do this with light baskets for toys or whitewashed ones. I may suggest to try the rocker near the heater? The room is great with the wood floors and nice floor moldings. Don't be afraid of bigger furnishings either. Will the dresser work on the wall where the chair is? As one commenter suggested--avoid any sheers, buntings, pillows, on or near the bed. I actually had one of my buntings featured in Pregnancy and Newborn magazine early on. I was horrified to see in the picture they had hung it from the crib!!! And on the pillow front--an easy way to add some pops of print/color is to do a few big floor pillows propped up in an empty space in the room for use when older. Great place to kick back and read. :)Just use a square euro and do a simple envelope closure (if you sew). And a plant (on a dresser) would be great or a preserved boxwood ball in a cute pot. I like the Evelyn rug. A plus is that it could grow with her and be used with other color schemes.

B/4 I scrolled down, I was going to suggest light gray walls with pinks, white. Anchor with low pile gray modernish rug (pile gets in baby's mouth) and silver accents. There are fab gray rugs, lampshades, etc. at Target now.

Light filtering shades! It'll make your room feel larger and more inviting. If you live in an area the gets extreme heat or cold, honeycomb shades will help you cut down on your energy bill.

As the mother of a 13 year old....sometimes it is nice to keep in mind that if you go too cute with a babies rug, she will outgrow it very quickly. Try to go for something that she will want to grow with.

my kids loved wall decals. you can chose letters to spell their name, or princesses, or dinosaurs...what ever they like. they are super easy to put on (peel and stick) and come off just as easy.

Try some curtains with tie backs to soften the windows and also lamps to add softer lighting. Also you have a lot of mid-height space so perhaps a mobile. You could add some purples as an alternative to just pink. A day bed is also a good option in a babies room.

Rug is pretty! If you have toys and books in another area of your house then you don't need much else in this room. Save your money until she gets older then maybe put in a little table and chairs for tea parties and coloring and such.
