I use cheap wool runners from Target in my kitchen. They last about 3 years and then usually look worn out from being vacuumed so much so I get a new one. What about an indoor/outdoor rug that can be hosed off outside if it gets dirty? I have Ballard outdoor rugs in my mudroom and laundry room. They are both holding up really well even with all the salt and rocks that get tracked in. Maybe try Ballard or Frontgate. They have lots to chose from. Some of them can't handle the brush bar on your vacuum and will need to be hand vacuumed so be aware of that before you buy.

I actually think the rug above would hide spills really well but it looks like it would get sucked into the vacuum and I vacuum my kitchen rug at least 2-3 times a week so that would drive me crazy. Any dark rug like that would work well in the kitchen though.

I love this look! I have several rugs like that---although not in the kitchen---and vacuuming is not a problem.

My kitchen rugs are the woven-rag type that can be thrown into the washing machine. A handknotted wool rug has to be washed professionally, which makes it impractical for such sloppy cooks as myself.

jrh76's comment about the brush bar is something to keep in mind. I do use the beater (lightly and occasionally) on my own Tribals, but that's something you'll have to figure out.

Hi. I don't use kitchen rugs as I find they impede the floor cleaning process but the ones posted are all very nice!

I typically go with synthetics (olefin or polyamide) for kitchen and entry rugs because they are durable and easy to clean (spot clean or hose down). Here are photos of what I have in our kitchen. I wanted to brighten it up with color, and paired it with a cushy rug pad for comfort. Good luck!

I use natural fiber rugs or indoor outdoor. Just hose!

I bought a $30 rug from Ross. It's great- softens the hard tile and no big loss if it gets ruined from all kitchen messiness. So far though it's stood up really well- stains have come right out with just a little scrubbing!

My sister paints on canvas. Uses them as wall hangings, rugs, whatever. She made me a beautiful scene for my kitchen floor. Sweeps and washes up easily (I have it held down with removable rug "stickies").
