I think Oxalis would be just the thing. I believe that most of the hybrid ones grow from corms. There are many different cultivars, and some have very pretty foliage as well as blooms.

In warmer climates they can be planted outside. They are nice as houseplants and often enjoy being outside during warmer weather.

It depends on the countries you have to move to. Some countries simply won't let you bring plant material and soil through Customs unless you have clearance from your Department of Agriculture (however it may be named).

Possible bulbs - Ornithogalum longibracteatum is very durable, 'interesting' and has long stems with quite ordinary white flowers.
Ledebouria socialis.
Haemanthus albi-flos, though it does have a reputation as a pot breaker.
