i'm a fan of tile in warm climates.

I agree I think in Florida i would go tile just the humidity alone would make that choice for me.

Tile in Florida is the accepted norm. It is cool and easy to keep and does well with moisture in the slab as well as in the air. If you want the look of wood, then you are welcome to work with the wood-look tile. Oak & Broad is correct. An engineered hardwood floated in the space would do very well so long as you make sure you maintain your internal humidity at appropriate levels.

Some people in Florida like to open up the doors and windows to create a breeze which makes it hard on hardwood floors to maintain the constant humidity required.
