How to arrange furniture in this space?

I am moving into this basement rental and am not sure how I am going go arrange furniture in this living room area. The photographer is standing in the kitchen if that helps. This is the previous tenet's arrangement and while it is not bad, I don't love it.

We don't have a TV, but use a laptop hooked to a projector on occasion instead. Since these walls are not white I will have to figure out a screen, I am toying with the idea of a two-sided canvas where one side is artwork.

Furniture-wise we have a largish dark green leather hide-a-bed sofa, a small leggy backed wicker bench, and a small black storage ottoman. Currently we move the wicker bench and Ottoman around as needed if we are watching tv or just chatting. Optionally, we have lots of sizes of birch ikea expedit/Kallax shelves and a birch toned electric piano. I am not completely attached to any of the furniture, but we don't have much of a budget, so working with what we've got is ideal.

I am concerned about the general narrowness of the room, odd shaped carpet and walls, the little basement windows, and lack of focal point. As well as my general lack of decorating skills. I like the idea of seating areas with seating facing each other, but am not sure there is space or if it is even possible with my furniture.

Also, I have thought about making a faux fireplace in there somewhere or faux window treatments to create the illusion of regular windows for a focal point, but am not sure if that would help. Also, Reminder I am a renter, so I need to avoid holes etc. as much as possible.
