So? That makes the opinions offered in it invalid? The variety's record (1986) and popular period is even older than that so does that mean it is irrelevant? Is all the info on Google about it invalid because much of it is more than 7 years old?

Plus as I said, it is only one of many discussions about the variety the search will pull up. I only picked that one to link as it appeared to have the most info and answers in it directed at your posted question - opinions from folks that have grown it.

I don't trust the self advertising names. And in this case the name is an adjective. Plus it can build some expectation. If it didn't live up to it, then I would kick myself for being naive and fool. LOL

Last year, at Lollapalooza (!) my son picked up a leggy dried out Delicious transplant. It looked like a lost cause, but I worked on it. I cut off the top and with care, it regrew into a beautiful, vigorous plant. Just not enough time left by then for it to produce fruit. Someone gave me seeds this month.

I grew it and got 2 lb. Fruit. I am happy with that.I have some more started this year. Same reason as above. So many tomatoes to grow

I grew it last year and it was one of my plants that did survive our excessive rain last year. Large plant, many large tomatoes. I plan to grow it again this year.

I haven't grown Delicious but it is on the list. Just wanted to post that I think the old Ponderosa, Delicious, and Big Zac all share genetics.
