I went back to the Bromeliad nursery and it's called Billbergia Ballerina here in FL.

Hi Diane. It's quite a drive for you but well worth it, I think. Take I75 all the way. She is right next to I75, Sheridan St. exit. If your making the trip, stop at Flamingo Rd. nursery nearby. They close at 6 though. It's more an attraction/nursery. In addition to acres of plants for sale they have a farmer's market, deli, bbq, smoothies, and the most unique garden decor I have seen. It's huge. So relaxing wandering through there. Yes, broms are great for snowbirds. Very little maintenance and lots of color.

I read your profile. I am from up North too, NY. Retired now, here 8 years. Gardening in South Florida compared to up north sure is a learning curve. I finally have most of it done, with heat tolerant plants that thrive here and I try new things here and there. I enjoy it.
