Haha, Nancy. I was pretty sure any clue would give away the Peace Corps. Love that you and Annette got it, as I thought you would! That was a bit of a throw-away question-I just wanted to mention it with all the yelling down here about executive orders when President Obama issues them; I did not know the Peace Corps. was formed through an executive order.

Today, I am paying bills and putting together packets/little books for my students; I brought home the reading stories weeks ago and completely forgot about them. I looked for them last week at school and wondered where the heck they were. Sigh.

Yikes. We are now supposed to get "significant accumulations" of ice this afternoon and evening. If only it were warmer (of course, then we wouldn't have ice-ha), we could work on cleaning out the garage. Might end up with another day out of school tomorrow if the forecast is right. I am so eager to clean and organize out there. The thing that got me the most is a couple of boxes of paperback books. Now, I know that is not much and they are so much easier to move around than the boxes of leather-bound and hardbound books I brought from home (and which I really should sell), but it just irks me that we are saving those. They really aren't treasures, you know? We should donate them to an assisted living place or veterans center. They would, I am sure, appreciate them. Even I am finding that our big heavy books are harder to read in bed. Oh well. Sorry for the rant! ;)

I also had forgotten that the Peace Corp was started by executive order. In 1961 I was 12/13 years old and not paying much attention to politics though had been aware of the Presidential race between Nixon and Kennedy the fall before.

Need another clue or so for the Manuzio question. Think your clue above has confirmed my first thoughts. Need to expand them a bit.

Am going to winter sow some Rocky Mountain aquilegia seeds today that I bought in CO while on vacation last month. Have six jugs so will explore my seed list for others goodies.

Among other things, Manutius introduced the modern use of the comma and the semi-colon, both of which I have tried to use today! :) There are two more innovations. Will try to come up with more clues.

Watching old Miami Vice shows now. The original pilot is one of the best ever. I love the scene when Crockett and Tubbs are driving at night in the Ferrari with the song in the Air Tonight by Phil Collins playing as the soundtrack. That was a very cool scene.

Heh, heh, heh, I think I now have an idea of what you're looking for Cyn. Just back from Seedy Saturday, found another heirloom bean I didn't have and bought some salad green seeds. Went to a Mason Bee Workshop, very informative I thought I knew the ins and outs of keeping them but hey I only knew a drop in the bucket, planning on going to a workshop in the fall on how to clean the cocoons and store for the winter. I'll start another thread to show what Jane has done so far on the stained glass panel for their front door, still a work in progress, post another picture when she finishes it.

The comma and semi-colon were what I was thinking about.

Didn't watch Miami Vice as didn't watch much TV in the 80s when I was raising my son. Spent time outside playing and supervising the neighborhood children who congregated in our bigger corner lot yard. Evenings were spent reading small books and playing games, etc. One show I did watch was Mash as it was in reruns after the 10 p.m. news.

Nancy, I didn't think they reused songs on the series, except in the one flashback episode. Hmmm...Will wait to see what your answer is!

for all of you. Manutius did indeed create italics. He is also considered to be the father of the paperback book since he was the first to produce inexpensive books that could be carried easily. Nice job everyone. I wonder if TM is on his way to Florida. Hope so. It would be nice to get away from the cold for a bit!

Three to five inches of snow expected here tomorrow. Will be glad to have it as we are very low on snowfall this winter. Hurray, temps are headed into the high 30°s at the end of the week. Mid 30°s is normal but it has been way below normal most of the winter.
