Fun idea, but need help.

I am an occasional, novice, quilter and am making a baby quilt for my grandson. It is a solid grey and white zig zag pattern, (chevron?) made of rectangles/squares set on point. The back is going to be yellow batik kind of print. I have just finished sewing the grey and white strips together and getting ready to cut the squares. Since the baby's name is going to be Wesley, and there are W's all over the quilt wouldn't it be fun to make one "W" actually stand out to personalize it a little? My first thought was just to quilt it a little differently, but could also make one W out of a grey print, or even the yellow. I am thinking the yellow might be too much, or that the quilting only might not even show up. If I am just quilting 1/4th inch away from the zig zags over most of the quilt, is there a way to quilt that W so it really pops? Thank you for your help!

Sounds adorable...my opinion, one yellow W on the front, lower right would be cute!
As for quilting, the W would show if you outline just one W, and do something different on the rest of the top, a meander perhaps.
could you post a pic...might help with inspiration ;-)
There are more experienced quilters in the forum who may offer other ideas. Have fun...

I think a single yellow W would be fun. You could also make it a grey/white/yellow print. I like the idea of bringing some of the yellow to the front of the quilt. Congratulations on your new grandson.

I like to have some of the backing color (or even fabric) included on the front. I think a yellow W on the front would be great. To make it stand out you could quilt it more heavily than the rest of the quilt.

I also vote for a yellow "W" on the front---and you could include a strip of grey chevrons on the back. This sounds very modern and cute.

Maybe a large yellow W with some extra padding then satin-stitched to the front - omit other quilting on just that block or area where the W is --- just a thought.

Thanks for all your great ideas. I think I will try to lay it out first - I have to anyway to figure the chevron out, then I could just see how it would work.
