An area rug with both wine and brown would tie them in together. By selecting these colors, you've already pretty much decided your color scheme. If you want to add another color (say blue or olive?) look for a rug that also has that color. An oriental would be the easiest style for a good color match with extra colors

I think you could tie together a nice color scheme of red and taupe/cream/beige through your pillows. Using one red patterned pillow as your jumping off point, you can pull your other neutrals from its pattern. Include a red solid pillow - a small red lumbar pillow on the brown recliner will give lots of impact - and you now have three red things in your color scheme.

This is pretty much the same principle that Lessismore is describing, above - pulling together the colors of your room I to one pattern.

Showing below a Pottery Barn patterned pillow, and a Pier One solid. Lots of taupes and neutrals out there.....just make sure to include some textured ones in your mix.

Kilim pillows would look nice and help to spread the colors around. I have found them at local antique/home good shops for very reasonable prices.

Your space also reminds me a lot of the rooms I saw on William Sonoma Home recently. I think peeking through their site or catalog would give you some really good ideas.

Wonderful ideas and Thx again so much! The problem is that I don't really like red throw pillows....or a lot of red in general. I just liked the red chair. Could I use coral and possibly a medium-tone forest green as accents? Do you think I should get the chair re-upholstered? This photo shows the two colors I like so much. So the BM site was really, really helpful and thx a million times for that! What I'm getting from that BM site is that I maybe could use the green as an accent, but probably not the coral....the green is actually closer to....http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/pinebrook .  Maybe I could put a throw partially over the red chair that had some beige, brown and green in it....I dunno. I got talked into getting that chair (although it's very pretty)...but now, I'm regretting it I think....unless I can figure a way to kind of "merge" it in with the beige sofa and brown recliner (with green accents)....

If I do use the Pinebrook Green accents, do you think I could also use a light blush-pink? I like the red vase with the dark green leaves and blush-pink roses....do you think that would work with my red chair?

Even with a "correction" on the colors you love, a whole lot of the suggestions here would work beautifully together with what you have. I love this rug and the kilim pillows. I would suggest that you get more substantial end and coffee tables too.

Why fight with the chair? It's so much easier to cover it. Well...I hadn't thought of a slipcover, because the red upholstery is pretty nice fabric that I paid extra for....but I guess it could be a possibility. I like the rug in the pix you posted!

Yes, a new coffee and end tables are definitely coming. But what kind is the big problem....I have NO GIFT for interior design decisions. For coffee/ends do you think I should go with glass or dark walnut to match the legs on the furniture?

For coffee and ends ... I would think a dark walnut on the coffee table. The dark leather chair needs something like that for balance imho. For a side table something with a lot more surface for the lamp and it doesn't have to match the coffee table.
