Agree with the above comment on the coffee table. Needs to have a style an possible a bit bigger to handle the room size. A rug ties it all together, with some interesting art on the walls.

I agree about the coffee table and the other think I might suggest is that the new lamp might find a new home. I think that your brass table is very nice and I think it would be a nice place to put a table lamp. I noticed that you have no lamp at seating level and a table lamp is better around a seating area than a torchiere is. Maybe get a second brass table at the other end of the sofa and get two matching lamps for them.

I agree with all the comments made by Houzzers. As for a coffee table, look at Ikea as well - they have two tier coffee tables both in white (to match your TV cabinet) or in metal to compliment your coffee table.

Agree on all comments. I would try to stay in the color family of the sofas and the nice plaid. I think the floor is to yellow and a very soft rug would go a great job with kids. Why don't you wait with a coffee table? Would be a great place for babies to crawl and play, ahead of you? I have the 4 by 4 Kallax of ikea with boxes to put away the toys. So you decide on what they could reach and play with and put dangerous stuff in the upper part. IKEA has also great sheep skin rugs (pic 2), very useful if you don't have floor heating. My girls still love to sit on them and play and they are now 8&5. In the beginning less is more. You may start with a dondolo hanging from the ceiling (see pic 1)? Hope my inputs are of any help.

Paint the coffee table white and add some fun modern baskets on the shelves. A rug is a must, pillows with color and texture as well, and some art.

I would get a coffee table in a darker color. I agree that you need some color in the room and an area rug would help also to ground the space.

Painting the coffee table white is a good suggestion as it will tie in with the tv console then.

UNTIL the baby arrives, I would not just leave that wall blank. I would love to see the piece in front of the window moved to the other side and leave the window open. Just flip it to the other side, along with the table.

Your are welcome and hope it helped. The art piece looks good but It will depend on the size as compared to the couch. Also a darker frame would be better than the white, because you have a lot of white going on. The painting should be a featured item.

As artists - we have taken clients existing frames and re painted them to fit the decor. It is easy to do and saves having to go out and buy a new frame.

Almost all coffee tables create a hazard for little ones learning to walk. Why not follow the above advise to paint your coffee table for now and when you start a family replace it with a soft ottoman. You've done a great job so far!
