Your cabinets are beautiful, and the granite selection is stunning. I don't think it is too much contrast. I have the similar style and color, and went through the same exercise of trying to decide upon a suitable white granite - White Supreme, Alaskan White. (White Vermont Danby marble was my first choice, but too expensive for me. ) I would have been comfortable with the movement of the Alaskan White if my kitchen was larger, but since mine is on the smaller side and opens to other living space, I just couldn't muster the courage to risk it -- but it is beautiful. I'd skip a tile backsplash with such a dramatic counter. In the end, I switched from white to black, and selected a leathered black cambrian, but would have been happy with a honed jet mist as well.) Good luck! The great thing about your kitchen cabinets is that any counter will look great with them.

Love this granite! Bring home a couple of tile samples and post the pictures; you'll get more input.

Grey, cream, and white could all work, and could be regular tile or glass. Would help to know your floor material, among other things.

The flooring is going to be red oak. We have not yet decided if we are going to leave them natural or put a stain on them.
